Although we have no written constitution we do have a substantial body of constitutional law, covering our system of government and the functions of governmental institutions. -

The law and practice relating to the transfer of ownership of business enterprises, and the associated financial transactions. -

Law firms often perform legal work on behalf of other solicitors. This situation arises when a client requires legal help a long way from his or her home. -
Agricultural Law
The umbrella term for laws that are particularly relevant to people who work in agriculture. -
Agricultural Property
This deals with agricultural land, agricultural holdings and agricultural buildings. -
Agro-Food Law
Laws pertaining to the agricultural aspects of food production, such as animal rearing and crop growing. -
Airports
Laws which are relevant to the running and organisation of airports. -
Ancillary Relief
Domestic or matrimonial proceedings in which orders for the payment of maintenance or adjustment of property rights are ancillary to the main subject of the proceedings (for example, a divorce). -
Anti-Dumping
A branch of trade law that enables action to be taken against goods being exported at unfairly low prices. -
Anti-Trust
Legislation on the protection of competition and fair markets. The equivalent in the USA of competition law. -
Arbitration/Mediation/ADR
Methods of settling disputes without going to court. In arbitration, an arbitrator or panel of arbitrators hears evidence from both sides in proceedings which may be as formal as a court case, but may be quite informal and sometimes cheaper than court proceedings. Mediation involves the parties reaching agreement through negotiation through a mediator. The court system increasingly offers these alternatives to litigation, especially in family matters and small claims. -
Architects and Surveyors
The law relating to architects and surveyors, including contract law, building regulations and copyright. -
Asian-Pacific
The law and practice of the countries of the Asian-Pacific region. -
Assets & Asset Recovery
Protection of assets, usually those of a business, and their recovery from persons who have them wrongly in their possession. -
Aviation
The law relating to the ownership and operation of aircraft. This includes such diverse subjects as aircraft finance and the prosecution of passengers who behave in a criminal manner aboard an aircraft.
