Areas of Practise
• Advertising, Technology & Media: We represent a variety of media and entertainment, technology and telecommunications companies on all contractual, commercial, intellectual property and regulatory aspects. We work closely with broadcast clients and cable companies on all issues relating to broadcasting and the convergence of communication technologies. We advise on film financing, outsourcing and licensing, as well as other technology transactions.
• Commercial Litigation: We handle substantial commercial disputes and are particularly well known for our work in international asset recovery, financial regulation and multi-jurisdictional claims. Specific areas of expertise include banking litigation, product liability claims, insolvency and corporate restructuring, intellectual property and domestic and international arbitration. We have a dedicated team of French-speaking advocates.
• Corporate: Our largest department handles a wide variety of corporate and commercial transactions for, in particular, U.S. and European clients. Our expertise includes mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, competition and corporate tax. We have a strong track record in Alternate Investment Market-related work.
• Employment: We provide a full service to employers and HR professionals encompassing service agreements and employment contracts, employee benefits, business transfers, dismissals, redundancies, discrimination and trade union law. Additionally we offer a bespoke tribunal service. We also advise on all EU aspects of employment law and offer transactional and non-transactional pensions advice. In addition, our U.K. business immigration team is recognised as one of the leading practises in the country and provides corporate clients and individual foreign investors with advice in connection with residence and working in the United Kingdom.
• Energy, Trade & Commodities: The department covers international commercial arbitration, litigation and transactional work. Disciplines covered include international trade/ sale of goods law, related carriage law, related financing law. Additionally, we advise on ‘mid-stream’ work such as financing of production, financing of distribution, JV agreements/ agency agreements/ contracts and all aspects of security over commodities and receivables. Our client base consists of producers, pure traders, end-users and banks/ funds.
• Financial Services: The financial services group advises on capital market products, consumer financial services, regulatory advice (Financial Services and Market Act 2000) and transactions (acquisitions, divestitures, restructuring). We also have a transatlantic project finance team.
• Life Sciences: The department supports leading-edge companies in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, diagnostics, medical devices and health care. The firm advises life sciences companies on debt and equity financing and partners with clients through all phases of development, production, marketing and distribution of products. We are also widely acknowledged for our work defending clients in high-profile, multi-jurisdictional product liability claims.
• Real Estate: The real estate group advises on complex real estate matters for investors, developer, banks and end users both in the UK and internationally. Frequently deals are tax or finance driven. Included in the team is the renowned leisure property unit which is a leader in its field. The group includes specialists handling real estate tax, litigation, environmental, infrastructure and planning.
• Shipping: The department covers a broad range of matters of concern to clients, including admiralty and casualty, ship finance, and dry shipping. The Shipping Group comprises dry, wet, international trade & commodities, ship finance, marine insurance and EU competition. We represent some of the biggest ship owners, charterers salvors, banks and international commodities companies. |
