Campbell Hooper provides comprehensive commercial and private client services. Many clients are long-standing, and include UK companies, often part owner-managed, and multi-national corporations operating in a number of sectors.
The Firm
Clients’ interests are served by an integrated approach. This incorporates the firm’s expertise in a number of market sectors, the sharing of key information across relevant practise areas, and a profound knowledge about each client’s business and history. Core practise areas of legal services are commercial, IP/media, property, construction, employment and services to individuals. Key complementary practise areas include tax, IT and e-commerce, charity law, litigation, defamation, and environmental law. Recent lateral hires, (Paul Renney from Addleshaw Goddard and Alex Chapman from Briffa & Co), have considerably enhanced its media sector expertise in computer gaming, gambling law and its existing marketing communication services offerings. The firm has also seen a significant boost to its already formidable sector expertise and reputation in regeneration and mixed-use development schemes through the lateral hire of Peter Stockdale and a team from Pinsent Mason.
The firm’s inclusive approach to its people encourages people to develop, take responsibility for their career and to contribute to the direction and success of both the firm and its clients. The professional management of the firm supports the achievement, and drive of its clients and people, so that they can fulfil their aims.
Types of work undertaken

It has particular expertise and wins an impressive level of new business in mergers and acquisitions, management buy-outs, raising of equity and loan finance, quoted company work including AIM, joint ventures, de-mergers, corporate re-organisations and general company/commercial advice.
Construction – Contentious construction-related work is handled by specialist teams (dual construction sector and legally qualified) which deal with adjudications, mediation, arbitrations and High Court trials for all those involved in the industry.
Employment – The firm’s employment team advises clients on the best way to operate efficiently to minimise claims and eliminate confusion in order to get the best from their workforce. Expertise includes drafting employment contracts, procedures and policies, transactional work, benefits, a wide range of contentious matters in tribunals, and the High Court, including Companies Court.

Projects frequently involve most of the firm’s core legal services and are typically supported by specialist expertise in contaminated land, tax, planning and other complementary specialisms. Amongst others, the firm represents developers, local authorities and retailers in town centre scheme developments. Property expertise also extends to investment work, and both non-contentious and contentious landlord and tenant matters.
Services to individuals – Services to individuals cover estate planning, advice on wealth management, the creation and maintenance of UK and off-shore trusts, charities, multi-jurisdictional administration and succession issues. The firm is also appointed by the Public Guardianship Office. Specialists handle a range of matrimonial and family law matters. Domestic conveyancing includes a UK relocation service for personnel of companies and overseas clients.
Third Sector – The firm has long acted for a number of well-established national charities providing advice on charity law, disputed legacies and services similar to those required by commercial companies in a manner sympathetic to charities’ aims and ethos.
