Online wills - public beware!

Deciding to make a will is an important step and needs to be carried out with an expert who can understand your circumstances, what you want to accomplish from your will and can guide you through the law so that this can be achieved. Solicitors are governed by the Solicitors Act and regulated by The Solicitors Regulation Authority, and will have undergone many years of training to qualify. The lawyer will want to see a client face to face to ensure that the client understands what they want to do and that they have the mental capacity to sign a Will. An identity check is carried out to ensure the person is whom they claim to be.

This is a non confrontational and respectful method which will avoid court room clashes and highly publicised coverage. The McCartney divorce was by contrast a very public affair and Heather Mills had a strong disagreement with the Judge about what was to be made public and what should remain private. Chancellor announces changes to CGT proposals

In last year’s pre-Budget report, Alastair Darling, the Chancellor of the Exchequer announced plans to radically overhaul the Capital Gains Tax ("CGT") system. Enforcement of Money Judgments - The Tribunals, Courts and Enforcement Act 2007

As some businesses experience cash flow problems caused by the credit crunch, many seem to be prepared to be more robust in pursuing debtors through the courts. However, successfully obtaining a judgment in your favour can sometimes only be part of the solution. If a judgment debtor fails to pay a judgment debt when ordered to do so, the judgment creditor will have to enforce the judgment if it wants to receive payment.
