About us
The foundations of Stephen Ede Cooke
& Ashton were laid 78 years ago when James Young established his law
practice in Grimsby. With roots that can be traced back to 1928, the origins of
our firm have given us much to build on. However, we believe that it is our
forward-thinking attitude and commitment to providing high quality legal
services that really count.
Today, we are a thriving law firm, well regarded in the Grimsby area
and further afield. Our
reputation stems from the lasting relationships we develop with our clients:
many return to us for legal advice and referrals count for much of our new
business.

Stephen is one of the founding partners of the
firm, specialising in
company & commercial,
insolvency and
employment law. He was admitted in 1975, establishing the firm as
it stands today in 1984.
Philip Ashton
LL.B. (Lond)
Philip, a partner, founded the firm with Stephen in 1984,
specialising in
matrimonial matters, he has a high volume of mid to high income cases. He
was admitted in 1980 and was one of the first members of the Law Society's
Family Law Panel.
Simon Jones
LL.B. (Hull)
Simon is the latest solicitor to join
the firm as partner, specialising in
commercial and
residential property. He was admitted in 1997.
